Principal, Director of the Canterbury International Buddhist Meditation Centre

A message of congratulations from Venerable Vidurupola Samitharathana Thero, Principal, Director of the Canterbury International Buddhist Meditation Centre.

Dear friends, Buddhism has become something that the world today demands. This is an era where the need for Buddhism is felt so strongly. Even among the non-religious community, Buddhism is highly valued. This demand will increase even more in the near future. As a Theravada Buddhist country, we have a great mission to fulfill today. That is why I thought of establishing the Canterbury International Buddhist Meditation Centre.

People are looking for comfort in their unsatisfying and tiring lives. Meditation is the way to do that. How beneficial would it be to practice meditation in a comfortable, free, peaceful, and healthy environment, free from attachments and conflicts, and to practice the rituals? You can come here once a month, once a week, or even daily for healing. You can also stay here to practice meditation and seek eternal healing. You will receive all the necessary guidance and teachings for meditation.

Canterbury is a repository of Dharma for those who study the Dharma. We launch special weekly and monthly discussion programs. There, we teach you the way to solve problems and make your life fruitful. We strive to organize the teaching process well. Not only that, but we have introduced other study courses to you from Canterbury. Diploma courses covering both Theravada studies and Mahayana studies are available here. You will have the opportunity to listen to lectures by lecturers who are experts in the subject. You can gain a good practice in the Pitakatra of Suttas, Vinaya, and Abhidharma. Courses have also been introduced to produce experts in the Pali language

A community of appreciative, enlightened young people who know the difference between truth and falsehood lives in today's society. Their religious and spiritual needs have transcended the conservative framework. As a young monk, I know that very well and recognize that need. But, unfortunately, there are very few places for that young community to go for their spiritual and religious needs. Even when they do go, they do not receive the proper appreciation they need.Canterbury has become a wonderful haven for young people who are thinking in new ways. We have created an enlightened program for the enlightened minds of the young Buddhist community.

I am very happy about the noble idea that came to me to create this event. And also to be able to bequeath to the Sasuna a suitable place to fulfill that purpose. We cordially invite all devotees to join hands with Canterbury and develop the spiritual practice that this brings.

Take refuge in the Three Gods!
